With all the new hemp and CBD products entering the market, it’s no surprise that consumers are just a little bit confused about which product is best for them and, most importantly, what’s the difference between hemp products and CBD products.
After the 2018 US Farm Bill made it legal to produce goods made from hemp, including cannabidiol (CBD) products, we saw a flood of new hemp-based products entering the market, but did you know that people have been using and selling hemp products for decades?

What Is Hemp Oil?
Hemp oil has been a popular health and wellness product in specialty health stores for decades. Almost all hemp oils are made from pressing hemp seeds to extract the oil. However, it’s vital to note here that hemp seeds contain almost no cannabidiol. While hemp oil is a great carrier oil for CBD, it doesn’t naturally contain any CBD. Many people have been using hemp oil as part of their daily health and wellness routines for years now.
While hemp oil may be great for your health and wellness, unfortunately, it doesn’t contain any CBD and doesn’t boast many of the potential health and wellness benefits that CBD does.
Another thing that has recently started to happen a lot is that unscrupulous sellers are trying to pass off ‘hemp oil’ as CBD oil. One of the ways that they do this is by misleading labeling, item descriptions, and pictures. While hemp oil may offer some health and wellness benefits, it’s much cheaper to make than CBD oil, and some unscrupulous sellers are trying to cash in on the massive CBD boom that’s happening worldwide.

What Is CBD Oil or Hemp Extract?
Cannabidiol (CBD) or hemp extract is present in the leaves, stems, and flowers of hemp and marijuana plants. However, almost all CBD products are made using hemp because it contains less than 0.3% THC (the psychoactive compound which results in the euphoric high that many people experience when they use marijuana).
Worldwide, CBD oil also known as Hemp extract  is a billion-dollar industry, with hundreds of new CBD companies entering this highly competitive market every day. Research into CBD has uncovered that CBD has many potential health and wellness benefits, including use for mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Anecdotal evidence from people worldwide also suggests that CBD oil could be beneficial for healthier skin, better sleep, boosting appetite, relaxation, and much more. Hundreds of studies currently show that CBD could be one of the most promising natural compounds globally. Still, more clinical trials are needed before we can make any definitive claims about CBD.
Many CBD oils actually use hemp oil as a carrier oil for the CBD. CBD itself only makes up a small part of the oil, with the rest being a carrier oil.

CBD Vs. Hemp Oil – Conclusion
It’s important to understand what you’re paying for and what you’re getting. With so many CBD and hemp products on the market, the easiest way to ensure that you’re getting a premium product and also getting what you’re paying for is to deal with a responsible company that specializes in CBD and hemp products.
